Garbage, Recycling, Yard Waste & At Your Door Special Collection

Waste Management - Weekly Garbage, Recycling & Seasonal Yard Waste Pickup

All garbage, recycling, and yard waste (in season) must be placed at the curb no later than 7am on day of collection. After collection, carts should be removed no later than the evening of your collection day. For more information visit our Garbage & Recycling page.

When your collection day falls on or after one of the holidays listed below, your collection will be delayed by one day that week.

Home Owners Association (HOA) Contact Information

Some neighborhoods may be a part of a Homeowner's Association that have additional set of bylaws and regulations for living in this type of community which are given to the owner when they purchase into this type of community. Please be advised that HOA bylaws and regulations are enforced by the HOA or managing company that has been selected by the community to run it. The City of Joliet only enforces its city code and ordinances.

Parking during and after snowfall ordinance Municode: Sec. 19-142. Other city codes and ordinances may apply.

The outdoor storage of commercial vehicles including but not limited to; semi-trucks (cabs & trailers), or any wheeled apparatus having more than two axles or a gross weight in excess of 5,000 pounds, shall not be considered a permitted accessory use and is not permitted in a residential zoning district, including school buses from 4pm - 7am. Zoning Code: Sec. 47-5.3 Municode: Sec. 19-150 Other city codes and ordinances may apply.

Recreational vehicles and watercraft exceeding 25' feet in length or 10' feet in height, exclusive of bumpers, spare tires, hitching equipment, shall not be considered permitted accessory uses and may not be stored in a residential zoning district out of doors. Zoning Code: Sec. 47-5.3 Other city codes and ordinances may apply.
- This shall not prohibit loading, off-loading or incidental maintenance not exceeding 72 consecutive hours in durations.

No motor vehicle (including boats, trailers, RV's etc.) shall be parked on any yard or parkway except upon a driveway or parking space designed and constructed according to the standards of the City. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL 60432, M-F, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (except on observed holidays).

How to Report Residential Parking Issues & Concerns

All on street parking concerns and violations should be reported to the Joliet Non-Emergency Police (JPD) line at 815-726-2491 or use our online Traffic Complaint Form.

Other Important Things to Know

The City of Joliet's maximum number of dogs (6 months or older) is two (2) per household.
- Zoning Code: 47-3.9(l)

Dogs cannot be on any public street, sidewalk, alley or any other public place unless the dog has a collar firmly attached with a leash, along with a license tag for the current year attached to the collar. Dogs are not permitted to run at large.

Dog owners are required to pick up their dog(s) droppings/waste after a walk or in your yard.

Owners should never permit a dog(s) to continually bark, growl, or whine in such a manner that disturbs the peace of others.

Generally, unless you live on a farm (as designated by the city) residents cannot own, harbor or keep any farm type animals typically found on a farm. Including but not limited to:
