Terry D'Arcy is a distinguished leader and the current Mayor of Joliet, Illinois, having been elected to serve in April 2023. His deep roots in the community have made him a well-respected figure in Joliet.
D’Arcy is the owner and President of D'Arcy Automobiles, a prominent automotive dealership with two locations in Morris and Joliet which has been a cornerstone of the Joliet business community for over three decades. He has been actively involved in various professional organizations, including his role as President of the Buick GMC Chicagoland Northwest Indiana Dealer Association and the Buick GMC National Dealer Council and Chairman of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association and Chairman of the 2007 Auto Show.
After graduating from Plainfield High School, D’Arcy became a union iron worker for Ironworkers Local 444 in Joliet. During a winter layoff, he transitioned into the auto industry.
Before assuming the role of Mayor, Governor Pat Quinn appointed D’Arcy to serve on the Illinois Tollway Board from 2012 to 2016.
D’Arcy is a recognized figure through his engagement in community service. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Silver Cross Hospital and has been involved with organizations such as Right Moves for Youths, the University of St. Francis Board of Trustees, and the Silver Cross Healthy Community Committee, among others. His contributions to the community have resulted in receiving numerous awards and recognitions for his philanthropic and volunteer efforts.
Outside of his professional and community commitments, D’Arcy is a devoted family person, father of four sons and a stepfather to two other children, sharing his life's journey with his wife, Sue. Together, they share three grandchildren.
