City of Joliet's Senior/Disabled Snow Removal Program is designed to create accessibility for eligible seniors and persons with physical disabilities. These services empower our Residents with the ability to leave their homes for necessities, or getting to essential medical appointments during the winter season by providing snow removal from a paved driveway and service sidewalk of their home. This program is made available through the use of Community Development Block Grant funding.

Applications

October 1, 2024 at 8am thru October 18, 2024 at 4pm

Applications and supporting documents will not be accepted after October 18th

Requirements

Photo ID and Proof of Residency is required. Residents applying as legally disabled (non senior) may be asked to provide supporting documentation.

Residents are urged to apply online. Walk ins will not be accepted in person, please contact Jacqueline Lozada after October 1st if an in-person appointment is needed  (appointment times will be limited due to high demand).

Slight changes from the previous years:

  • The number of participants is determined by the amount of funds available and the contractor's cost of service.
  • Applicants will be notified via email if they are approved for this program.
  • This program is restricted to single family homes - paved driveway and service sidewalk only.

This program is funded for five (5) instances of snow removal - this is not a guarantee of services throughout the entire winter season. Snow removal services are provided when there have been three (3) or more inches of snowfall. Contractors have up to 24 hours after snow is complete, to provide snow removal service.  A contractor will remove snow from a paved driveway and service walk from driveway to front door only.  The contractor is not required to remove snow from the back of home, and will not salt any areas. This will be a city-wide service, specific days/times cannot be guaranteed and there will not be "holds" or requests accepted to obtain services on specific instances.
