File an Online Traffic Crash Report

The Joliet Police Department now offers the ability to report private property crashes online. Please confirm the following to see if online crash reporting is right for you:

• The crash occurred within the City of Joliet

• The crash occurred on private property (parking lot, driveway)

• The crash is not an emergency (no injuries)

• Damage appears to be under $1500

If the crash is off private property (on public roadways) or caused injuries, please call Joliet Police Department at 815-726-2491 (non-emergency) or 9-1-1 (emergency). For private property crashes, the crash will not be investigated and no citations will be issued.

Upon completion of the online crash report you will:

• See "Your online crash report has been submitted”, indicating that your crash report has been received.

• Receive an automatic email with a tracking number; not the same as the JPD report number.

• Have the ability to print an unofficial copy of your crash report.

Please Note:

• All crash reports that are submitted through the online crash reporting system will be reviewed.

• Upon review, if further information is needed, you may be contacted.

• Upon report completion, you will receive an email with the case report number. You will be able to purchase an official copy through www.buycrash.com or directly from the Joliet Police Department. Please allow 3-5 days after completion to purchase a copy.
