Special Olympics Illinois
The 'Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run' program (ILETR) is the single largest year-round fundraising program benefiting Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL). The annual intrastate relay and its various fundraising projects have two goals: to raise money and to gain awareness for the athletes who participate in SOILL. Since 1986 ILETR has raised nearly $55 million, while increasing awareness of SOILL athletes and their accomplishments.
The Joliet Police Department takes an active role in participating in ILETR events every year. Some of our fundraising events include the 'Dunkin Donuts Cop On A Rooftop', the Harley-Davison Raffle, the Torch Run, The 'Texas Roadhouse Benefit Lunch', and the 'Five-O At The Dirty-O'.
ILETR fundraising helps provide SOILL Athletes year-round sport fitness, training, and athletic competition for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities free of charge for the athlete and their family. With the funds raised by ILETR and its various events, SOILL is able to provide services to more than 22,000 athletes and approximately 4000 young athletes every year.
