Joliet Police Pipes & Drums
The Joliet Police Pipes & Drums is a group of Joliet Police Department members (both active & retired) who have come together to represent the department in the greater Will County area through traditional bagpipe music.
The band started in the summer of 2008 with three pipers and two drummers. The pipers learned to play under the direction of Emeritus Pipe Major Rob Hall, and the drummers learned to play under the direction of Drum Sergeant Dwayne English. After an incredibly intense nine months of practice, the band made its debut performance at the Will County Law Enforcement Memorial in downtown Joliet on May 9, 2009. During 2009 the band performed at eleven engagements.
The band has since increased to a total of nineteen members; twelve pipers and seven drummers. The band continues to teach the new members and improve the band’s repertoire.
The band has received a great reception from the community and has received a number of generous donations from members of the community. The donations have been very helpful in the band fulfilling its goals of representing the Joliet Police Department throughout the Will County area by honoring and remembering those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The band strives to fulfill its motto – “Alieno Non Nostrum Frater” which translates to “Forget Not Our Brothers.”
