A release form for vehicles that have been towed/impounded by the Joliet Police Department can be obtained from either station:

Joliet Police - Main Station

Joliet Police Department - West Sub-Station

Release Requirements:

• Vehicles are only released to the legal owner
• You must provide proof of ownership (title or current vehicle registration)
• Pay any applicable administrative fees,
• Have a driver’s license and proof of valid insurance (if towed for insurance violation)
• If legal owner is unlicensed, a notarized letter/affidavit signed by the legal owner and the person whom the legal owner is giving permission to release vehicle to is required

**All towing and storage fees are a separate expense and is paid directly to the tow company.**

Please note that our west sub station location only accepts exact CASH as payment.  The main station accepts exact cash, credit/debit card, and certified cashier’s check.
