The William and Mary Swinbank House is a 2½-story, wood clapboard and cut shingle, Queen Anne style structure built on a Joliet limestone foundation in 1889. The structure is dominated by an imposing, asymmetrically-placed tower which protrudes from the full-width, open front porch. The tower has a conical-shaped roof and is accentuated by four eight-over-eight double-hung sash windows. The structure has a steeply-pitched roof with a projecting end gable on the front. The structure is a Local Landmark.
