This office is responsible for administering the City's planning activities. Full-time professional Planning staff reviews all items submitted for action by the Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals and Historic Preservation Commission. The division maintains a wide variety of plans, information and maps about Joliet (see Plans and Studies and Resources). The division prepares and administers comprehensive plans and land use plans along with updates to the City's Subdivision Regulations and Zoning Ordinance. Please find link here for Handbook for Developers, which are guidelines created to assist developers, builders, architects, engineers, and others involved in construction and real estate development in the City of Joliet. These guidelines are general in nature and specific issues will be given personal attention by City staff.
