Joachion Rohwedder House — 664 North Hickory Street

The Joachion Rohwedder House is a 2½-story, wood clapboard, Queen Anne/Stick style structure built in 1892 on a Joliet limestone foundation. The structure is distinguished by a steeply-pitched, cross-gable roof with a 1-story, front gable, open front porch, inset into the el-shaped front façade. The porch has an applied sunburst pattern in the gable. Other end gables on the main body of the house are in-filled with scallop and circular cut shingles. The roof overhang is defined by individually cut, curved cornice brackets. The Stick style influence is seen in the wide, horizontal wood trim bands which wrap the entire house at intervals above and below the line of the first and second story windows. The structure is a Local Landmark.
