Beginning January 1, 2023 - all City of Joliet, Building & Inspectional Services Division will require a Letter of Intent from each  Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC Contractors listed on a project.  Review the Contractor Registration link below for more information.

HVAC Testing Information

A Contractor's License in required from testing cities/villages within the State of Illinois.  City of Joliet HVAC Exams are taken Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. - 11 a.m.  Provide a Certificate of Insurance, naming the City of Joliet as the Certificate Holder, complete an HVAC Exam Application, and take the exam - closed book, no phones.  A passing exam requires a $100 annual registration fee.  For more information, contact the Building Department at 815-724-4070.

Sign Erectors License

All Sign Contractors performing work in the City of Joliet must complete a Sign Erector's Application, if newly registering or if any change of information needs to be made to existing accounts.  The Sign Erectors License requires an annual $30 fee.

There are no fees for contractor registration.
