The City of Joliet requires registration of all businesses with the exception of home based businesses and any business that holds a current business license from the City of Joliet.

Per Article XVIII of the City of Joliet's Code of Ordinances, Business Registration is required for any business having a place of business within the corporate limits of the city.

Please note: Any business that is subject to Business Licensing and/or home based businesses (subject to Zoning Ordinance Regulations)  are exempt from this requirement.

All businesses subject to registration shall register with the Business Services division within thirty days of notification from the City to register. These businesses shall have a continuing obligation to provide the city with any change in information previously provided to the city.

Any new business subject to registration shall provide the necessary registration information within thirty (30) days of the commencement of business.

Please note: Business Registration is NOT a Business License.
