  • Date: 02/04/2023 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Location: Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park & Theatre
    201 W Jefferson St
    Joliet, Illinois 60432
  • Introduction: In 1947, an odd group gathers regularly at a restaurant called STAMP, where they share stories and discuss world affairs. The patrons have one thing in common; they're black Americans who've all been featured on the US postage stamp.

STAMP a story of Black America and US Postage

Their daily routine is interrupted when a young girl (Jersey) wanders in for a bite to eat after a trip from the library. She's needs to finish a report on Benjamin Franklin, the first to be featured on a postage stamp; she's been told: "No blacks have been featured on the stamp, and never will." Interesting stories and music bring the education of black contribution to American society, as well as their featured achievement on US postage stamps.
