Fire Chief Jeffery Carey
Chief Jeffery Carey started his career with the Joliet Fire Department in 1996. He has held every rank in the fire department, from firefighter to chief. Chief Carey is in his last semester at Waldorf University to receive his Bachelor's in Fire Administration. He has certifications as a Firefighter III, Officer II, Instructor II, Leadership IV, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Hazardous Materials Operations, Public information officer, and Paramedic.
Deputy Fire Chief John Stachelski
Deputy Chief John Stachelski has 29 years with the Joliet Fire Department beginning his career in 1993. DC Stachelski was the Westside Battalion Chief for nine years prior to his promotion in 2022. He has certifications as a Firefighter III, Paramedic, Public Safety Diver, Diver Rescue 1, Public Safety SCUBA Instructor, Dive Rescue 1 Trainer, Sonar Technologist, Swift Water I and II, Ice Diving Operations, Hazardous Material Technicians A and B, Rope Rescue Technician, Rescue Specialist Confined Space Technician, Structural Collapse Technician, and Trench Rescue Technician.

James P Blake has been a member of JFD 25 years 33 total years in the fire service. Education BS Public safety Management SIU.
Training Chief Ronald Fox
Battalion Chief Ron Fox has 33 years with the Joliet Fire Department, beginning his career in 1989. BC Fox was the East Side Battalion Chief for two years prior to becoming the Department’s Training Chief in 2022. He has certifications as a Firefighter III, Paramedic, Public Safety Diver, Dive Rescue I, Public Safety SCUBA Instructor, Swift Water I & II, Ice Diving Operations, Hazardous Materials Technicians A and B, Rope Rescue Technician, Rescue Specialist Confined Space Technician, Structural Collapse Technician, and Trench Rescue Technician.
Emergency Medical Services Chief Aaron Kozlowski
Battalion Chief Aaron Kozlowski began with the Joliet Fire Department (JFD) in 1999. He has worked through the ranks and was a Westside Battalion Chief and the Training Chief before becoming the EMS Chief. During that time, he has received certifications as an Advanced Technician Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Rescue & Public Safety Diver, Swift water Tech, Hazmat A&B Technician, Hazmat Incident Command, Fire Officer 2, Instructor 2, Incident Safety Officer, Training Program Manager, Illinois Professional Emergency Manager (IPEM), Infrastructure Protection Certification and completed the FEMA Basic Emergency Manager Academy. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Illinois Champaign, a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from Waldorf University, and a Master’s degree in Public Safety Leadership and Administration from Arizona State University. He is also a Registered Nurse in IL.
Community Risk Reduction Chief John Koch
With more than 28 years as a Paramedic and over 25 years with the Joliet Fire Department, I have experience in a variety of roles and positions, from leading special teams through administrative duties. Currently, I am the Battalion Chief of Community Risk Reduction, which is a new division of the fire department seeking to improve quality of life for the residents of Joliet.
