City of Joliet, IL
Home MenuAbout Us
The Joliet Fire Department currently has 209 sworn and 3 civilian personnel staffing 9 stations and an Administration Office.
The stereotypical image of a firefighter polishing a chrome bell and petting his station's spotted Dalmatian mascot dog has given way to other activities in addition to emergency response - classroom study, building inspections, hydrant testing and training - never ending training. Each year, the Joliet Fire Department documents over 30,000 hours of training.
Not only do today's Joliet firefighters continue to sharpen their firefighting skills, but a number of specialty areas of emergency response have been added to the responsibilities of the department.
